The transition from middle school math to the level of understanding and work necessary to succeed in grade 9 math was a difficult one for both of my sons. In particular, one struggled and had somewhat resigned himself to "being terrible at math". His teacher encouraged him and he saw some improvement, but it wasn't until we began tutoring with Rachit that my sons really began to understand what he was learning and gained the ability to apply concepts to slight variations in problems.

My son gained confidence and saw improvements right away, but it was really over weeks and months that the true benefits flourished. Over each subsequent semester, my son felt able to master different topics and learned how to do much of his work before his sessions with Rachit so that he really was able to benefit from Rachit's clear, gentle approach to help him figure things out.

Rachit is a calm and patient teacher. If a student doesn't grasp an idea or concept when it's explained one way, Rachit keeps at it with different approaches until the student has that "light bulb" moment. (Or at least until the student feels likes he/she can execute what is needed for the test.) He builds a rapport with his students. Both of my sons really like him as a person, as well as appreciate what he has taught them as a tutor.

Rachit gently pushes for deep understanding of concepts, so that eventually, students aren't memorizing what to do to solve a problem, but can really approach any problem by really "getting" what's being asked. This deeper understanding takes awhile to emerge. It's more a marathon than a sprint.

Tutoring is expensive, but its been one of the best investments that we've made. During COVID, Rachit was an excellent resource to make sure my sons fully "got" the concepts. Math online is hard!! Rachit made it infinitely easier. My son has gone from barely passing in the middle of grade 9 to an average in the 90s and joining a small group of students who were given accelerated problems in Grade 11. His math teacher even suggested he take AP level Calculus in grade 12. It is his sessions with Rachit and his own hard work that gave him the confidence and the deep understanding to make that possible.
